HAPPY NEW YEAR...
Not had chance to do much posting lately, had lots on but this doesn't mean that there is no news, quite the opposite. Plenty of new films due out this year and many currently in production.
Firstly want to mention The Reggae Film Festival 2010 is going ahead this year and will take place at The Hilton Hotel from 25th-27th February in Kingston, http://www.reggaefilmfestival.com/ so anyone interested in reserving tickets for the event should get in touch via the contact us link on our main site http://www.reggaefilms.co.uk/ or via the official fetsival website. There's going to be loads of great films with several premieres and a few World Premiere's so it's gonna be a good one, also February ius Reggae month and the UWI are running another Reggae Conference so plenty happening, the perfect excuse to go to Jamaica.
I hope to be releasing this new limited edition dvd by the end of the month if at all possible, we're just working on the artwork and then it will be put on sale, will post up here before hand. We also have another major dvd release which will be available worldwide later this summer which is an old film from 1980, more about that nearer the time.
News films to look out for "Hit Me With Music" which is a new documentary about Reggae, you can find the trailer on youtube.
"Holding onto JAH" will be released in the not to distant future, as will 'Rise Up' and 'Rocksteady'.
New REGGAE FILM ARCHIVES website, you can find this over at http://reggaefilmarchives.co.tv/ (without the www bit) this is a new Reggae/Rasta/Jamaican video website where users can add their own favourite online videos to the site to help build up the archive. I'm hoping this will be one of the largest Reggae/Jamaican video archives on the net before long so go take a look and add some videos.
Barrington Levy has recently been cast in a new film, i think it's called 'No War' but i need to double check that!
Not much news in the way of DVD releases, only the regular dancehall stuff, nothing of real interest.
I'm making a visit to one of the UK's largest film arhcives later this month and they have kindly agreed to digitize some very important reggae footage for us so that it will now be available to anyone wanting to go and view it, so will be posting up a review of this in early Feb. with details on where you can see the footage.
Will post up some more detailed posts when i get a minute....
